Colferoloy ®

Colferoloy ® – Iron Alloys; Powder and Rod - “A new development in hard-surfacing”

Colferoloy is an important new addition to Wall Colmonoy’s wear solution products range. Colferoloy satisfies a demand for more affordable hard-surfacing products as this range of iron-chromium alloys provides excellent combined wear and corrosion resistance.

These alloys may be applied by PTA and HVOF welding. The Colferoloy alloys are formulated to meet a wide range of applications.

Colferoloy 233-20 and Colferoloy 233-30

Suited to protection of glass container moulds and may be used in place of PTA welded nickel hard-surfacing alloys for the protection of neck-rings, guide plates, bottom plates, etc.

Colferoloy 332 and Colferoloy 333

A further development for the glass container industry, These “special blends” contain aluminum which acts to absorb gasses evolved from oxidisable grey cast iron or aluminum bronze moulds and thereby reduce porosity in the overlay. Non sticking properties are similar to that of standard Nickel alloys

Colferoloy 133-40 and Colferoloy 133-50

Designed as general purpose alternatives for PTA welded nickel or cobalt hard-surfacing alloys Colferoloy for Heavy Wear Applications and Hard Chrome Replacement Colferoloy 139 is a hard alloy (up to 1000HV) for a range of heavy wear applications.

It is also proven a suitable replacement for hard chrome protective coatings, even for some sprayed WC-Co.  The alloy forms sub-micron structures which afford excellent dry-wear resistance, whilst the high chromium content provides good resistance to corrosion.

Colferoloy 139 can be PTA welded and HVOF sprayed. PTA coatings can be deposited crack free and up to 9mm in thickness. HVOF deposits have good spray efficiency and produce smooth surfaces.

Applications currently being trialed include:

  • Plastic Extrusion Screws
  • Paper, Steel and Plastic Rolls
  • Hydraulic Piston Stems
  • Piston Rings
  • Agricultural Equipment
  • Open Cast Mining
  • Hard Chrome Replacement
  • Low cost alternatives to NiCrBSi alloys, WC-Co and Hard Chrome plating
  • Hardness’ range between 20 – 69 Rc
  • All can be applied by Plasma Transfer Arc
  • Harder Colferoloy alloys may also be applied by H.V.O.F
