Centrifugal Casting

Centrifugal casting is used to manufacture high integrity cylindrical components. As the name implies, centrifugal force is employed to exert pressure on the molten metal as it is poured into a spinning mould resulting in a dense component with a fine grain structure. The wall thickness of the part is controlled by the amount of alloy poured. The centrifugal force presses the molten metal against the inner wall of the mould, densifying the metal and thus reducing shrinkage porosity and gas related defects. The integrity and wear resistance of these structures make them beneficial where there are requirements for corrosion and abrasion resistance. Centrifugal castings are supplied in a semi or finished machined condition. A wide range of tooling is available (up to 300mm outside diameter and 400mm long) to enable a rapid response to customer’s requirements.

Tooling is available for outside diameters up to 300mm and a maximum length of 400mm to enable a rapid response to customer’s requirements.
