Thermal Spraying

Aerobraze offer a number of thermal spray processes including HVOF, Wirespray and J3.  These processes use powders including Colmonoy® and Wallex® to produce coatings designed to provide enhanced wear and corrosion characteristics.

Various thermal spraying techniques are employed to protect your components against all variations of wear, such as abrasion, erosion and corrosion. Thermally sprayed coatings are characterized by a mechanical bonding with the substrate, which provides good bond strength.

Colmonoy Spraywelder

Colmonoy Spraywelder is used on site to provide wear resistant layers on a range of parts.  Typical coatings include the Colmonoy® and Wallex® range of materials and these can be deposited and fused on a variety of component geometries. This technique allows coatings to be produced with typical thicknesses of 1.5mm.

However the possibility to produce thicker coatings up to  3 mm for special application and on specific base materials.  The J3 thermal spray system is portable and may be used to coat surfaces on relatively large components.  If required, the coatings can be hand or furnace fused to further enhance their properties.

Powder is carried to the gun in a compressed air stream where it is melted using a fuel gas & oxygen

mixture. The semi molten powder droplets are directed at the part to be coated. All of the spray parameters are precisely monitored and controlled. Once sprayed the part is then taken up to a temperature above 1000 degrees for fusing. The coating fuses and forms a metallurgical diffusion bond with the surface.

J3 Sprayweld coatings are smooth, well bonded and not porous.
